National Action Plan
2022 - 2027
The GPP National Action Plan 2022-2027 builds upon the achievements of the first NAP, reinforcing successful elements while addressing any shortcomings. It provides a policy framework to further promote sustainable procurement practices across government entities.
The target is to enhance GPP processes to reduce environmental impacts and drive markets towards greener products and services. The target is to progressively increase the share of government’s procurement in greener products to 90% of tenders which fall under the scope of GPP, by 2027. Progress on these objectives will be measured through key performance indicators and a monitoring mechanism established in the GPP National Action Plan 2022-2027.
The role of the Ministry for the Environment, Energy and Public Cleanliness (MEEC) is to:
• Continuously engaging businesses, government agencies and stakeholders by providing necessary training through information sessions, workshops, and other means of communication.
• Facilitating green procurement implementation by managing a GPP Helpdesk, enabling users to easily access information and address specific queries.
• Increasing awareness among businesses and government agencies about the benefits of investing in green products and services, whilst instilling an environmental mindset across the business community.
